  Peter K Swart

Peter Swart was educated in the United Kingdom attending the University of Sheffield (B.Sc in Natural Environmental Science) and King's College, University of London (Ph.D in Geology). While in London in supplemented his income working on hit films such as 'The Shining' as well as duds such as 'Holocaust 2000' and 'The Mummy' as well as writing articles for 'On Your Bike'. Unable to find gainful employment he starting a posdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge working on the stable isotopic composition of extraterrestrial material with Colin Pillinger. In 1983 he moved to the University of Miami and in 1986 set up the Stable Isotope Laboratory. In addition to stable isotopes Peter Swart collects and rebuilds vintage motorcycles. Currently he has three BSAs, two Triumphs, and one BMW.

  Greta J Mackenzie

Greta completed a B.S. at Queen Mary College London and then a Ph.D. in Geology at King's College London. After her Ph.D. she worked for Esso exploration in London before moving to Miami in 1983. In Miami she worked in the Environmental Industry and as a Lecturer at Broward Community College and the University of Miami. Currently she is working in the Stable Isotope Laboratory as well as acting as an editorial assistant for the journal Sedimentology.

  Amel Saied

Amel has worked in the Stable Isotope Laboratory since 1991. She originally came to Miami from Tunisia to do a Ph.D. in biology but somewhere along the way started to work in the SIL.

  Corey Schroeder

Corey started life as a workstudy student in the SIL and progressed to other tasks. Currently he looks after the computers, operates the XRD, 251 and Delta.

  Samantha Evans

Samanatha is a post doctoral associate who has not yet finished her Ph.D. She is working on (i) the fractionation of nitrogen isotopes into algal material, and (ii) the development of sulfur isotopes as indicators of diagenesis. She like getting to grips with the mass spectrometer.

  Amanda Waite

Amanda is a PhD student working on converting coral skeletons to calcite, thereby rendering any paleoenvironmental information completely useless. She has a neat isotope record from a sclerosponge.

  Courtney Drayer

Courtney is a PhD student working on nitrogen isotopic systematics in Biscayne Bay. Her goal is to analyze nitrogen isotopes in everything known to man (or woman).

  Remy Okazaki

Remy is working on the effects of changes in pCO2 on coral calcification using corals growing in extreme environments as models.

  Angela Rosenberg

Angela is from South Carolina and is being converted to the dark side (Geology). We think she likes being a Geologist, because the parties are better! She is working on Deep (very deep) corals.

    Quinn Devlin

Quinn is a new student starting in Fall 2008. She has already worked with the stable isotope facility for the past several year. She will probably work on organic related projects, maybe invetigating nitrogen cycling on corals.

    Monica Arienzo

Monica has just completed an undergraduate degree at Franklin and Marshall. She will be joining the stable isotope laboratory in the Fall 2008. Her project is still undefined but will be doing something on climate, maybe.
