Comparative Sedimentology Laboratory

Annual Review Meeting

The 2007 Annual Review Meeting of the Comparative Sedimentology Laboratory is scheduled for October 15 -16, 2007 at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science (RSMAS), 4600 Rickenbacker Causeway. It will begin at 8:30 AM on the morning of October 15 in the seminar room located in the Science/Administration Bldg., Rm. 103. The meeting ends October 16 at approximately 4:30 pm.

The fieldtrip to the mixed system in the Dominican Republic will take place from October 17 – 20, 2007. We will travel in the afternoon of October 16 and spend three days examining the Miocene-Pliocene mixed carbonate-siliciclastic system in the Cibao Valley. Mixing occurs on a bed scale and in a large scale whereby prograding siliciclastic delta fronts transition into prograding carbonate clinoforms. Outcrops along several rivers illustrate the vertical and lateral distribution of the facies in this mixed system.
